It’s about to be a lot easier to drink wine, beer and other liquors during outdoor events at two of Gwinnett County’s biggest attractions.
Gwinnett County commissioners voted on Tuesday to approve zones at the Infinite Energy Center and Mall of Georgia where people can have open containers of alcohol outdoors at those venues. Until now, alcohol could only be consumed indoors at those venues.
The change to the alcohol ordinance means tailgaters at, say, a Jimmy Buffett or Mumford and Sons concert can now drink beer before the show without getting a ticket from police. Mall of Georgia patrons can also take a drink from a restaurant in its Village area to concerts, film screenings or fireworks on the mall green.
